Fukubukuro (福袋) is an unique custom that the Japanese cerebrate the beginning of New Year. It is a way of showing our gratitude for all of the great support in 2020, and wishes your best in 2021 with Sashiko stitching.

The B.Azu Bag contains not only Sashiko threads but also fabric/tool/supplies that you may need for enjoying Sashiko stitching. My wish for this year’s “Azu Bag” is to encourage a Sashiko lover in continuing/starting/learning Sashiko stitching. The bag will have essential items, as much fabric & thread as possible (toward the bigger bags).
This year, I would like to try something new, unlike the previous years.
I had many fortune to meet "Sashiko beginners" in 2020, who wish to learn "how to" before the actual Sashiko stitching. The more I come across the beginners. I feel the “trend” of Sashiko more than ever. I would like to welcome everyone to our Sashiko.
(For "How to stitch Sashiko" as the core, please consider taking the Sashiko Online Class).
For the Sashiko Fukubukuro 2021, in “Azu Bag”, I decided to offer some choices in selection.
*Each bag will contain the set of needles and thimble.
*Each Bag will contain some of our supreme thread. To get the Natural Dye Sashiko Thread for sure, please consider "Keiko Fukubukuro Bag" (Most of Earth Color are dyed with Natural Dye).
This bag is for a beginner who has never tried our thread, needles, a thimlble, and fabric. It is a compact package of everything you woud need to enjoy our Sashiko stitching. Some youtube tutorials are available already (I hope to make a designated tutorial toward the end of January.)
*Natural Dye Sashiko Thread will NOT be included in this bag.
In 2020, We made several patterns for our projects. We would like to share some patterns. The package will include some of the pattern-printed Mylar Paper, a supplies to transfer the pattern, and fabric. Also, a good amount of Sashiko thread for the projects will be in the bag.
*Natural Dye Sashiko Thread may not be included in this bag.
More thread + fabric + some vintage/rare fabrics that I have been collecting in 2020 will be added to the Sashiko Stitcher Bag. es. I may contact you to understand the preference if you are the repeating customer.
*A few skeins of Natural Dye Sashiko Thread will be included.
Would it be "possible" to collect the Vintage fabric as a "Kit" to make something...? Technically speaking, one doesn't need a "Kit" to make a "Boro-to-be" pieces. They just need to follow what they woudl like to collect, patch together, and stitch on. At the same time, I had received so many request of collecting the vintage fabrics together...
This special Fukubukuro is a bit of combination of Keiko Bag & Atsushi Bag (You will receive a lot of fabric & thread with enough materials to prepaer the fabric). In addition to that, I am thinking of a special set included: a package of "project materials to make Boro-to-be bag or placemat". The fabrics were chosen by Keiko based on the hypothesis if she were the one to make a project. This is the biggest Fukubukuro for 2021. I can only prepare a few of this bag, so please be advised that this may be out of stock without further notice
A list of items that "may" be included.
The bag is to have more fabric & thread with some idea of Japanese geometric patterns. Although it requires some learning to prepare the fabric, it is our way to prepare - so I really want you to learn it.
The bag has a theme of "enjoying Sashiko more". Wthin the theme, the items (contents) such as colors of thread & type of fabrics, will be selected randomly. I am happy to know your preference. If you have any specific request for fabric and/or thread, please leave the comment when you check out the cart.
This bag is designed to be delivered in the USA. You may purchase the Fukubukuro with non U.S. shipping address with accepting the extra shipping fee. Please expect an email from Atsushi for the available upgrade. Due to Covid-19, we would need to be very careful in choosing the carrier & options. Thank you for your understandings.
